This week I learned about layering and hybridity. I chose layering for my artwork and I drew a sand flat and printed a four wheeler and snowmobile and glued them on the sand flat. I envisioned my artwork turning out well and I was mostly correct. I have no pictures of my work.

I created this artwork and decided to name it "Driven into." In this artwork I drew grass by drawing swayed lines large, and then gradually making them smaller and then just shading. I drew my screwdriver freehanded based off of memory and used a ruler to get a straight line of the metal section. I drew the mountains based off of a picture I found on the internet. I drew the clouds based off of memory and freehanded.
I created this artwork by stealing ideas from Claes Oldenburg. He creates objects way larger that normal and makes them sticking out of the ground. I took his idea and changed it by making mine a screwdriver instead of anything he has done. I also changed the background because he does his artwork in cities so I did mine near mountains in the middle of nowhere. My big idea behind my artwork is that I like tools and applied them to Cleas ideas. My goal was to get an end result better than I would of expected and get better at drawing mountains. I don't think I achieved either of these goals, but the both take practice. Overall, I think my artwork turned out okay, but could have been better. I think next time I will chose a topic to draw that I would enjoy drawing more. This past week I learned 2 new studio habits. One of them being layering white to add a duller drawing. I did this by using red and blue to make a purple-ish color and them adding a layer of white and then a layer of red and then white again. Then in the mess of colors I wrote my name. I have an image above showing this.
Another habit I learned is it helps to do a practice drawing before your final draft. I also was reminded how to draw field grass. You have to make short lines curving slightly and make some lines darker than others. If you want to get a more blurred look, rub your finger across the grass your drew. |
